Terms

Terms of service

Last updated:

These terms are the agreement between you and Scholastiq Innovations Pvt Ltd for using Sprout & Roots. Please read them with our privacy policy, refund & cancellation policy and shipping & delivery policy, which form part of them.

1. About these terms

Sprout & Roots (the Android and iPhone apps, the web app and this website, together the “Service”) is provided by Scholastiq Innovations Pvt Ltd, Concorde , Electronic City, Bangalore, Karnataka, 560100, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560100 (“Sprout & Roots”, “we”, “us”).

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or lawful guardian of the child whose plan you follow. The Service is for use in India.
  • You sign in with your Indian mobile number and a one-time SMS code. Keep your phone secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One subscription is for one child, and one mobile number is one child’s account. A sibling needs a separate subscription with a different number.
  • Children do not have their own accounts. The Service is meant to be used by you, with your child.
  • Give us accurate information and keep your billing details up to date if you need GST invoices in a particular name or GSTIN.

3. What the Service includes

A subscription gives your child’s account access, for the paid period, to a day-wise plan of Montessori activities for the chosen package and age band, together with the 3D lab, narration, progress tracking, badges, monthly reports, notices, podcasts and videos, and live group sessions when we hold them.

Each month of a plan has 28 plan days (six activity days and one review day each week). A new plan day unlocks at midnight in your time zone; future days are not available in advance, and days you miss stay available to catch up. We regularly improve activities and features; we may change, add or remove content as long as the Service you paid for stays substantially the same.

4. Plans, prices and GST

Packages combine a programme (Nurture or Nurture+), an age band, an optional materials kit and a programme length (currently 1 month, 3 months and 12 months). You can pay for a package in the billing periods offered for it (currently monthly, quarterly and yearly); longer periods may carry a discount.

All prices are in Indian rupees and include GST at 18%. Current prices are shown on our pricing section and in the app before you pay; the price shown when you pay is the price you are charged for that period. Every payment gets a GST invoice in the app.

We may change prices in the future. A change never affects a period you have already paid for, and never changes the amount of a UPI or card AutoPay you have already set up (to move you to a new price we would ask you to set up AutoPay again); we will show new prices in the app before your next payment, and for store subscriptions Apple or Google will notify you as their rules require.

5. Free trial

  • You can start a plan with a free trial (10 days and 28 days depending on the package). Trials are for new families, once per child.
  • No payment is needed to start a trial of a digital plan, and a trial never turns into a paid plan by itself: starting a trial sets up no AutoPay, and when it ends, access pauses until you choose to pay.
  • If you choose to continue during the trial with AutoPay, you approve the AutoPay yourself at that moment, and the first charge is on the day the trial ends.
  • For plans with a materials kit, the one-time kit fee (₹2,500 incl. GST) is paid when you start, even during the trial, because the kit is a physical product we send you. See the refund policy for what happens if you cancel.
  • You can cancel a trial at any time from Account in the app; access ends at once.

6. Payments and renewal

Paying by UPI or card (Razorpay)

When you pay by UPI or debit/credit card, the payment goes through Razorpay and you choose one of two ways:

  • AutoPay (UPI AutoPay or card): you approve a mandate in your UPI app, or for your card, through Razorpay. The price of your billing period is then charged automatically at the start of each billing period (for example every month or every year) until you cancel or your package ends. Razorpay and your bank notify you before each charge, as Reserve Bank of India rules require. Razorpay and your bank keep the mandate and any card token; we never see or store your card or UPI details.
  • Pay once: a one-time payment (UPI, card or netbanking) for the billing period you choose. It does not renew; we remind you in the app 3 days before it ends, and you can renew in the app with another one-time payment or by setting up AutoPay.

How to stop AutoPay: cancel in the Sprout & Roots app (Account → Cancel subscription), which stops all future charges; or revoke the mandate in your UPI app (usually under AutoPay or mandates) or with your card issuer or bank. Stopping the mandate in your UPI app or with your bank stops future charges; your child keeps access until the end of the period already paid for, and it does not by itself request a refund (cancel in the app for that; see the refund policy).

Paying in the mobile apps (App Store or Google Play)

When our apps are available in the stores, subscriptions bought there are billed by Apple or Google and renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. Cancel in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings (for the App Store, at least 24 hours before the renewal date). Cancelling in the Sprout & Roots app does not stop a store subscription from renewing. Store purchases are also subject to Apple’s or Google’s terms. Apple and Google sell only the digital plan, so for a plan with a materials kit the kit fee is paid separately by UPI or card through Razorpay, and the kit is sent once it is paid.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, we keep your child’s access for 3 days so the day-to-day rhythm is not broken while the payment is retried (Razorpay retries AutoPay charges for a few days) or you pay another way; after that, access pauses until a payment goes through. If AutoPay stops after repeated failures, you can renew in the app at any time; progress and stickers are kept.

7. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from Account → Cancel subscription. Our refund & cancellation policy sets out when you get your money back (in short: a full refund if you cancel within the refund window of a payment, less the kit cost once your kit has shipped). Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

8. Materials kits

Kits are delivered within India only, as set out in our shipping & delivery policy. Kit materials are meant to be used with an adult, following the activity steps; see “Safety and supervision” below.

9. Gifts, referrals and school codes

All codes are entered in one place: Account → Have a code? Codes cannot be exchanged for cash. Gifts and school seats never set up AutoPay.

Gift subscriptions

  • You can buy a plan for another family and share the code. Gifts are paid by UPI or card through Razorpay, as a one-time payment; the gift invoice is issued to you. A gift of a plan with a materials kit includes the kit and courier; the family enters the delivery address in the app when they redeem it.
  • Each gift code can be used once. The plan starts on the day the code is redeemed and runs for the gifted period; it does not renew.
  • A gift cannot be redeemed by the person who bought it, or for a child who already has a paid plan running (a free trial is replaced by the gift).
  • Keep the code safe: whoever enters it first gets the plan. Refunds of gifts are covered in the refund policy.

Give a month, get a month

  • Every family has a personal referral code. A new family can enter one friend’s code before their first payment; a family can use only one friend’s code, and not their own.
  • When the new family’s first subscription payment goes through, both families get 1 free month (28 plan days) added to their current plan. Free time is never paid out as money.
  • A family can earn referral rewards for at most 12 friends in any 12 months; beyond that, the friend still gets their free time.
  • If you have no plan running when a friend joins, your reward is added when you next pay for a plan.
  • Codes cannot be used in loops (you cannot use the code of a friend who joined with yours). We may withhold rewards obtained by misuse, for example fake accounts.
  • We may change or end the programme at any time; rewards already added to a plan stay.

School and partner codes

  • A school seat code starts a plan paid for by the school (or by an employer for its employees, or by a company's CSR programme), for the period it bought, for one child. Seats are limited to the number bought.
  • A partner code from a school, franchise, educator, doctor or hospital, or employer links your account to that organisation. The first partner code you enter stays linked. The organisation sees limited information about your family, as described in our privacy policy.
  • A code from a doctor or hospital can give a longer free trial (the app shows the number of days before you start). Entered during a free trial, it lengthens that trial from the day it started.
  • A code from an employer can give a discount on plans paid in the app or on the website by UPI or card, including renewals while the code's offer runs. It does not apply to App Store or Google Play purchases, which use the stores' own prices.

10. Safety and supervision

Every activity must be done with an adult present and paying attention. You decide whether an activity is suitable for your child and your home.
  • Choking hazard: many activities use small objects such as grains, beans, beads, buttons, bolts and small kit pieces. These are not suitable for children who still put things in their mouths. Never leave a child alone with them, and put them away after use.
  • Water: never leave a child alone with water, however little.
  • Sharp, breakable and hot things: activities that involve scissors, knives, glass or the kitchen need your constant help. Adapt or skip them if you are unsure.
  • Food and allergies: check ingredients and household alternatives against your child’s allergies and dietary needs.
  • Check materials and kit pieces for damage before use, and store them out of reach of younger siblings.

Sprout & Roots provides guidance for parents; responsibility for supervising your child and for the safety of your home and materials remains with you.

11. Nurture+ and educational guidance only

Nurture+ offers smaller steps, more repetition and extra tips for children who benefit from a little extra support. It is always the parent’s choice and does not involve any assessment. Sprout & Roots, including Nurture+, is an educational programme: it is not medical, developmental, psychological or therapy advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a paediatrician, therapist or other qualified professional. If you have concerns about your child’s health or development, please consult one.

12. Our content and your licence

The activities, texts, illustrations, 3D lab, narration, podcasts, videos, certificates, the Sprout & Roots name and logo, and the software are owned by or licensed to Scholastiq Innovations Pvt Ltd and protected by copyright and trademark law.

While your subscription is active we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service at home with your own child. You may print certificates and reports for your family. You may not copy, publish, sell, rent, redistribute or use the content for a school, classroom, tuition or other business, or share your account with other families, without our written permission.

13. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service unlawfully, or for anyone other than your own child and family;
  • try to access other families’ data, content before it unlocks, or parts of the Service not meant for you;
  • copy, scrape, reverse engineer or overload the Service, or interfere with its security;
  • create accounts with false details or other people’s mobile numbers, or misuse trial, gift, referral or school codes;
  • post or send anything unlawful, abusive or harmful in live sessions, feedback or messages to us.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, after telling you why where that is reasonable.

14. Live sessions and links to other services

Live group sessions take place on third-party video platforms, whose terms and privacy policies apply when you join. Other participants may see or hear you if you switch on your camera or microphone; sessions may be recorded and shared with Sprout & Roots families, so please don’t show your child or share private information on camera. Links to other services are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.

15. Availability, changes and ending the Service

We work to keep the Service available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free; maintenance, network problems or events beyond our control may affect it. You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time, in the app (Account → Delete account) or on our delete account page (see the privacy policy). If we ever discontinue the Service, we will give you reasonable notice in the app and refund the unused part of any period you have paid for.

16. Our responsibility to you

We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. Except as stated in these terms, and to the extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is”, and we do not promise any particular learning or developmental outcome for your child.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for harm resulting from an activity done without adult supervision or contrary to the safety guidance above, and our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or your rights as a consumer.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem quickly. Subject to your rights to approach a consumer commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or the Service.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will change the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, tell you in the app at least 15 days before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then under the refund policy; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.

19. Contact

Questions about these terms: contact@scholastiqinnovations.com, or use our contact page. Complaints about personal data go to our Grievance Officer (see the privacy policy).
